Jonathan Masters of Holcomb, Dunbar, Watts, Best, Masters & Golmon obtained a full defense verdict in the Shelby County Circuit Court in Memphis Acuff International, Inc. v. Crown, Cork & Seal, Inc., a matter involving a contract dispute in the delivery and installation of a new 136,000 pound, $1.5 million press, to Crown’s, Batesville, Mississippi factory. Disputes arose over several contracts surrounding the plaintiff, and Acuff filed the lawsuit alleging a breach of contract and intentional misrepresentation. Crown argued that various delays during the projects caused production losses and ultimately use of its own personnel to do work never performed by Acuff. The jury returned a verdict for Crown finding for Crown on all claims.
